This article is forgetting to mention other theories. One theory is that God was establishing a covenant with Abraham, which led to the ultimate covenant between God and humanity. A covenant based on unshakable trust. Were both God and Abraham sacrifice their only sons. The parallels are established for fulfillment of prophecy to win the sceptical mind.
Other theories state that Abraham conjured this idea within his head and God corrects him before it was too late.
Interesting read, I just wanted to point out the other theories.
Very interesting Xenophon!
Myths from Mesopotamia: Creation, The Flood, Gilgamesh, and Others (Oxford World's Classics) by Stephanie Dalley is a good book to read.
i have a series of questions that i'm not sure the author can answer, and i'm not asking them to be a jerk or anything, just the things floating around in my head after reading....how big is it? was it worn on a necklace? what color? was it a cure-all or disease specific? i do totally agree that people don't wake up one day and decide to build an entire civilization...it takes work and planning and materials....math, science and industry even in a way...
and don't forget about Bruce Gernon...who traveled into the future in 1970 via the Bermuda Triangle! I mean he didn't travel far, but every little bit counts!
I believe these carvings were the "Branding" done by the ANUNNAKI to claim these Temples as their constructions. See "The ANUNNAKI Were Here!" pgs. 53-54 at my web site.
has anyone had the pleasure of viewing this item in the museum? a digital copy would be amazing, but i think it would depend on if the museum people would do it and what kind of condition the book is currently in!
anytime you throw that sacred geometry into the mix it always makes me wish i would have grasped the subject better. maybe it's because they didn't have tv and fb to distract them, but these ancient people were incredibly smart....way beyond what anyone (present company excluded) gives them credit for!! not only are these shapes amazingly accurate in their carving, someone carved them. someone sat down, had an idea, and made them...with stunning precision!
well give them some carrots! :) good job bunnies!!! we appreciate your contribution...but i'm guessing humans are going to go ahead and take over the digging...i hope that if they need to be relocated while the dig is going on, someone will do so with care...not just kick them out of the area.
i love that the phrase "mainstream aracheology" is used...i hear it most on my fav show! :) i appreciate that whatever these creatures were, that they believed in breastfeeding...something a lot of americans seem to have a problem with...serpents and snakes were also used in a variety of cultures around the world...seems like nearly everyone has some tie to a snake or serpent-like creature.
Absolutely possible. The Dogon tribe in Africa knew details of the pleiades without telescopes, space travel, or any other means. So is it possible they knew of atoms, absolutely! Or could this be a case of art misinterpreted...we misinterpret artwork from our time.
I would to read this thing, especially since it hints on books from the bible. We need someone to make a digital copy of this book. I doubt there is anything evil about this book, stories are often fabricated to garner "publicity".
Don't forget about the book of Enoch, another reference of time and space travel. During WW2 the germans experimented with time travel with their Bell, which can not be found and was said to not just be operational, but used.
I have to say that reading the comments for this article, has been an interesting experience. The racial issue brought up seems shallow and not well founded at all. The focus on the incest issue seems almost as absurd as the racial issue. There are current populations that still use and allow incest as a norm. One of the societal values of incest was that you knew the family of the mate. And incest has only been taboo for less than 100 years.
I also agree that basing "norms" or "facts" from the DNA study of ONE toe bone from ONE female is as arrogant and ignorant as most main stream scientists. I find Neanderthals completely fasinating, I also believe that they have gotten a totally bad wrap from the 'experts'. As we learn more we will find that they were much more human that most modern examples. And they came in different shades and sizes including olive skin tone with blue eyes and considering that no true neanderthals have existed for tens of thousands of years that kinda debunks the non-black races only showing up 5000 years ago.
If we are to entertain ideas like aliens in the past, then I think you have to entertain the possibility of time travel, it something like the Bermuda triangle, to name just one triangle. What if they went through time or a portal and that is how their iconography resembles our modern aircrafts. Or people were more advanced than we give them credit,
Could be markers, from above or on the ground, could be multipurpose. It could of been used for sacrifices or a lookout point since they couldn't build with wood.
In addition, I do not mean to deminish the 'value' as not being worthy, only that it is pretty recent for ancient or origin studies :-) But it is of great sideline or confirming value for the aforementioned legend/myth. :-)

As someone posted on another site:
If God created the Sun on the fourth day, how come 4 days had passed?

i would love to hear more about the cuneiform tablets and what they actually say!

Good point, just another idea that needs considered,
