I don't find this surprising, but only a natural part of the death process of a pregnant woman pre-embalming. Of course in Roman times if a mother died during child birth, it was mandated by law that the fetus be removed prior to the mother's burial. Perhaps in order to prevent the unpleasant coffin birth situation.
