Extant documents provide no date for the birth of Aphrodite, but to the Greeks she was considered to be the oldest of the 12 Olympian gods older even than Zeus. For them she was considered to be the equivalent of a number of other ancient near eastern goddess, the most notable of these being the Egyptian goddess Isis.
