Opening the Medieval Stone Coffin at the Richard III Burial Site? (Video)
In 2012, archaeologists made a stunning discovery in a parking lot in Leicester, England - the remains of King Richard III, one of the most infamous and controversial figures in British history. The king's final resting place had been lost to history for over 500 years. His burial site held several mysteries, including a mysterious lead coffin buried just feet away from the king himself.
What secrets did this ancient container hold? Inside the coffin archaeologists found the skeleton of an elderly woman, identity unknown. Was she buried before or after the king? How was she connected to him? Thanks to radiocarbon dating we might just have the answer.
