Peruvian Hairless Dogs ‘As Important as Machu Picchu’ (Video)

Print

Peruvian hairless dogs are an ancient breed whose image is recognizable on pre-Incan pottery. They have been termed as 'primitive dogs,' because they have remained unchanged for over 3,500 years. Their untampered nature throughout centuries means they have a truly authentic and pure lineage, giving them the status of living relics of history. Recently, these dogs have been accorded the prestigious distinction of being declared national patrimony in Peru, elevating their importance to the level of the historic Machu Picchu, an acknowledgment which designates them as living treasures of the nation.

Despite facing numerous challenges through millennia, these primitive dogs have shown a remarkable survival instinct, managing to thrive until today with a disposition that is characterized by an affectionate nature towards humans. Through their endurance and unyielding spirit, these dogs not only represent an ancient lineage but also embody the loving relationship that has long existed between humans and dogs.
