Nefertiti was an Egyptian queen who lived during the 18th dynasty. She was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten and is known for her beauty, depicted in famous sculptures and paintings. She played an important role in her husband's religious reforms and may have briefly ruled as co-regent after his death. The famous Nefertiti bust brings her to the fore, as does the search for her tomb which as yet remains elusive. Together she and Akhenaten overhauled the religious system of Egypt to theism, whilst it lasted.
