Shamanism is a religious practice found in many regions of the world that involves a practitioner traversing the ‘axis mundi’ – a channel of communication between parallel worlds. Shamans reach an altered state of consciousness, either auto-hypnotically or through the use of psychoactive substances to interact with the spirit world.
