When King Charles III is crowned in June 2023, the accompanying ceremony will be a decidedly streamlined affair and will strip back a lot of the ancient traditions it usually entails. This is in comparison to the anointment of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her immediate predecessors on the British throne. The Daily Mail reported that the new king’s coronation guest list will be trimmed down significantly from the 8,000-plus people who attended his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s investiture in 1953.
