A camping trip in the back country of Mammoth Cave National Park played out like a horror movie for a terrified couple. Two years ago I spent a weekend camping in the remote north Highlands of Scotland staking out a legendary ‘ big black cat’ associated with the slaughter of scores of sheep, as reported in this article in the Independent. Armed to my eyeballs I intended to shoot the ravenous creature once and for all and finally capture it – on film. This mysterious beast actually exists, but at no time did I think of bringing a rifle or deadly weapon with me, unlike the man who woke up a pair of sleeping campers in Mammoth Cave National Park
