    Read up on the Electric Universe. Far better explanation, and more rational than the Standard Model.

    True the brain and thoughts of humans don't change. This has been proven through the overlook of the history of the human race, but there are things that we won't understand. Do you know the mindset of a farmer? How about a peasant under a tyrant king? There are things we don't know though, because our world is physically different from the past. This is why we don't know any thing of the past. We know the recent past, but no the distant past. For example, we can't see stars unless we're in a isolated place far from civilization we can't see stars; though in the past they could see stars, and distant galaxies, planets,etc. In some religions stars helped form religions like the Greeks. Also, there are things in religions that once existed, but obviously don't and we believed that they were myths. Like hobbits, we thought they were made up; well in Indonesia where they have hobbit legends, archaeologists have discovered that hobbits did in fact existed until extinction from something. Also, in the bible there is mention of giants also in other religions and cultures that did not have contact that we know of at that time. Also again, including the bible, multiple religions mention winged-creatures, well do we see winged humanoids now?. Also we still don't know the technology they used to build certain things that should of been impossible at that time and even in our time it's impossible. So, how did they do it? Who are these creatures that lived among them? What did they see? We may have the same thoughts and actions as them, but we don't know them or the things they did, because their world and ours are different. That is why we may never understand them.

    I would rather be stripped of my name than be worked to death. There's no eventual freedom from that.

    Do you really know what the white slaves went through? Doubtful since you were not there.
    Did you know the first black slave owner in the USA was a black man who took another black man to court in order to be able to own him? Probably not, since we were all taught in school that it was whites owning blacks. Do some research. Find the real answers.

    Many years ago, archaeologists found a large settlement in Tennesse with signs of smelting.  The people had lived there a long time, probably hundreds of years, based on burials.  No one could figure out these people or place them in the historical record.

    Then about 10 years ago divers found a Minoan wreck off of Turkey.  It had artifacts identical to the Tennessee find, including bronze ingots identical to the molds in Tennessee.  We now call these molds “ox-hide” molds because of their shape.   But at the time, no one could figure it out.

    We have learned a pack of lies about history in school.  Tens of thousands of people from the Mediterranean came to the Americas over a very long stretch of time.  Egyptians, Greeks, Phoeneicians, you name it, they came here.

    The Americas used to have a huge civilization, or perhaps many of them.  From the giant mounds of the Ohio valley to the massive canals in Florida, to the amazing stone works of New England, humans have built a lot of stuff in America.

    Photons are their own antiparticles. Electrons have Positrons. Protons have Antiprotons. Photons just have other Photons. Not sure what "antimatter light" is supposed to be, exactly.

    Thanks for thoroughly checking the credentials. The mention of the "academic" journal was enough for me to believe what was said. :(

    Slew and slayed are sometimes seen as interchangeable, but you are right that slew is the more accepted term. We have made the change. Thank you.

    Plato may have lived and written in the 4th century BCE, but then again, he might just have come out of the imagination of Gemisto Pleton (same basic name) in the 15th century.

    The Greeks not only said Hyperborea had 24 hours of sunshine, they also said it had a wonderful warm climate. Modern geology shows it once had a tropical climate.

    There is no ultimate author of the bible God does not exist and is not even in the bible other than a man made character from sun god concept not divine being nor deity exist. Science def. does not speaks to existence of any God ! There are no other kinds of evidence ! No atheist would consider that available scientific evidence would point to creation over naturalistic development and evolution .! Forget it

    Don't start preaching here Reverend, you and your beliefs are no different than any ancient Celt and his faith in Crom Dubh the father God or his belief in the tales of the Tuatha De Dannan or any Viking and his belief in Odin his father God and Valhalla where he goes after he dies. It's exactly the same thing. The bible is full of tales and beliefs that are mirrored in cultures far older than Judaism or Christianity, cultures and belief systems that you would no doubt dismiss as pagan.

    In this day and age, the Brits have their own wickerman too – in the form of the Guy Fawkes and Guy Fawkes night. The article fails to mention WHEN and during which season the rituals with the wickerman took place. These were probably fertility rites aimed at granting the population plentiful crops. This is mentioned in the Wickerman movie as well.

    There is one main difference, but no use mentioning Him, I don't expect. I would be curious to know if you have in fact read the Bible, and if you have, did you read it with an open mind, and were you open to the Divine Presence? The evidence of a Creator is all around. The belief does not require evidence. Not everything is Empirical. Faith, for example. Everyone has Faith in something. What is your Ultimate Concern. Mine is my Relationship with God and being open to the Divine Presence in my life. To dismiss the possibility so cavalierly is, it seems to me, ShortSighted.

    Skeletons that have disappeared, having been sealed up for "security" purposes;
    Gold tombstones that disappeared into then-Soviet Russia and never resurfaced;
    Dodgy camera angles that skew perspective...

    Good grief, AO, you'll be telling us that Dark Matter really exists next!

    Look at that roof! Gotta be a smurf dwelling! Sadly, also, the making of the small-scale model means that Ms Ewbanks' Jenga set is unlikely to ever work properly again.

    As for music venue... the amount of effort that must have gone into shifting those huge stones would mean that the average Stone-Age pleb was about as likely to go there to enjoy a "rock" concert (sorry) as s/he would be to survive naked on Dartmoor in winter. If it was a meeting venue - an idea which is not actually without merit - only shamans and chief Smurfs would be likely to set their grubby soles down within its hallowed precincts, the latter only with permission of the former.

    A conference centre for maintaining the peace between local tribes would be more my guess, with the very outer ring being a high wooden pale to keep the hoi-polloi firmly out.
