I on one of these figures that was hand dug in 1964 in Sierra Leone in 1964. What strikes me as most unusual, is the weight of the object. It seems very much heavier than normal stone.

Mine is of the human figure also with an oversized head and displayed knows it is dark brown and has significant tooling marks along the entire structure of the body.

If anyone would like pictures of this object to add to any collection you may contact me at:

It was suggested the early antiquarians who examined Viking settlements found drinking horns in warrior graves, and not realizing they were for drinking from they and their illustrators could only think they must be helmet decorations.

i read in a Nat.Geo. magazine an article about Vikings, written by a Norwegian that superstitious christians put the horns on the helmut in their artistic depiction of the Vikings, because of their raiding and pillaging, brutish nature. it was an effort to make them look more develish.

Ancient India was way richer than any other country. Kings used to stash away wealth in secret cellars. This was done with two objectives: to preserve it for future generations and to protect it from invaders. Still a great deal of that wealth had been stolen by invading kings. Lord Padmanabha protected this temple and its wealth. Hindus don’t want the government to appropriate this wealth. Yes, people are curious about the content of vault B, but no one wants it to be opened with force.

Is there really anything much new. Over the years I have noticed that many new discoveries seems to be a re-discovery from the past.

In 1975 a physicist by the name of Fritjof Capra wrote a book called 'The Tao of Physicis". I seem to recall him alluding to SHIVA. Shiva am I, creator and shatter of worlds. He also saw that the dance of Shiva represented atomic structure.

We shouldn't trust a lot of the old dates. Traditional ideas of Egyptian dating may err by 2000 years younger. A lot of "ancient" artifacts and historical characters lived much closer to our own era.

Many historians have written about major errors in traditional dating under the Gregorian calendar. Certain "ancient" historical people like Ptolemy and Tacitus may have lived in the Middle Ages. The Catholic Church committed a major historical fraud and we should not trust regular dating without strong proof. I think we should suspect anything before abut 1600. The wars of the reformation detroyed much more than history tells us, I think.

As Ammulya has stated, India was ruled by others for many centuries and looted continuously.Still India remained the richest till 16th century.Koh-i-noor diamond, Pea cock throne , 2000 years old artefacts from southern India, which were abducted are available all over the world They underwent unprecedented barbaric attacks, which took them aback. They were victims of number of reasons, mainly betrayals.
In British rule, Indian intelligence was totally subdued and their skills in areas of agriculture and muslin weaving etc including salt farming were forcibly blocked, India almost was comprising 54 major states even before a millennium, hence became easy target for invaders. They adopted divide and rule policy which really kept Indians fighting among themselves which benefited rulers. Entire knowledge and their labour were robbed. In spite of so many causes, Indians fared so well in fields of science. Let it be earlier part of history in BCE or after 15th century, Hypocrites is credited as the father of medicine, where as Susrutha, Jivaka and Charaka were his forerunners who mastered surgery and medicine.Panini was the first known grammarian, Chanakya wrote Arthasastra which is the known treatise on economics and all of them were students and teachers in the first known university at Takshashila, which existed much before 6th century BCE.. Considering period after 15th century, refer to Einstein's admiration to India and Nicola Tesla's admiration and involvements with Vivekananda, Jagadish Chandrabose's radio transmission before Marconi, etc. The rich literary gifts like Thirukkural in Tamil, considered to be 2200 years old preaching us life sciences without mixing any religion standing tall loftily valid fully even today and will remain so in days to come.
In spite of so many odds, India has developed a culture of uniting after many centuries of split rule, which has never occurred in any part of the world. There is a sort of oneness among all, they have adequate knowledge for explorations, They have become pioneers in IT sectors because of their instincts from their forefathers and definitely will emerge in fields of Science and further evolution for serving mankind.

We Indians earnestly would like to submit to the world community that we don't want to waste our time in disputing and winning any right of the past. Most of the world know how countries are harping on robbing of our precious knowledge and rights for millennia in areas like, Turmeric, Neem and verieties of cereals.

I am amazed that no one else is objecting to the hype of narration. Clearly seen as wire cut into tiny pieces and then glued on to the surface. Agreed that it's time consuming but nothing else that requires lens or children to do it. I even think it must have been a fun project for the craftsmen.

    Louis,

I agree with you that archaeologists and scientists do not cover very much of the past beyond 4000 b.c. I believe this has to do with how far we have come now. They see what we have been able to do and the technology it took to do it. They then think there is no way a "primitive" society could have done it. It is this arrogance that prevents us from learning more about our true past. That being said let me address the civilizations that just seem to pop up. This question is a big pill to swallow, but what if we are the second evolution of man on this planet? Would that not explain how these great cities seemed to spring up from noting and be able to accomplish so much? Could it have been that they discovered old ruins like we are doing today? I hypothesize that man has evolved twice on this planet; the original evidence gone due to the ravages of time. Now shown in how ancient civilizations sprung up and accomplished so much. Could it not be possible that some of the great mythical cities like Atlantis had once been real and their stories and skills passed on or left in some form? We already know the world had gone through so much change and that great floods wiped out civilizations. Could this have not happened before? I ask you to keep an open mind as you explore our collective history. We may be overlooking the missing link in our evolution.

    Not very sure.

My personal conjecture: (the four serial symbols in the picture, read in a top-down fashion) four ancient Chinese characters used for a tomb.

匛/柩 (coffin, especially holding a corpse therein) 裝有遺體的棺材
入 (to enter, to get into, to be placed therein) 入土
    零/靈 (soul) 靈魂
回 (to return, to get back) 歸返

(coffin buried in earth and soul returning)
