So you believe only in the bible and nothing before it? This author is just bringing facts...obviously you can't handle facts. So why even delve into ancient history? Or do you only study "ancient history" that proves your god exists? Way to be an adult "quit frikking LYING", seriously? Why not try learning something outside of your tiny little narrow world? It's a big place to rely on something your parents forced on you, i.e. religion.

If it is the same swastika, then one photo is reversed, and I guess it is the author's photo as the swastika is "turning" the wrong way.

All due respect, I think everybody wrong. It only takes maybe 15 years.
Black people in northern latitudes? From Minneapolis to Moscow, they mostly pale. They don't need the coloration. Black people down in Mobile and Tampa OTOH, often dark as Hershey's dark chocolate.
White people up in Canada? White as toothpaste. Whereas white folk in Florida and Hawaii, nice and toasty brown. And I think in both instances, their offspring inherit a predilection for the adapted color.
Could be wrong... but I don't think so. Go to any of these places and take a look for yourself.

Copper plate edict, in India they are found all over places. They are called as Tamra-Patra.....meaning copper plate letter.Usually they are royal edicts, mentioning grant of land etc. They were preserved for generations to show ownership/rights by a family of a particular place. The names mentioned in the Laguna copper plate.Puliran, Kasumuran and Ganasakti are still common names among Hindus of Tamil Nadu in India.

Shrines my fat arse ... if you went into any random house now, you would find people storing stuff in various sized boxes. There are entire stores dedicated to storage solutions, and I dare you ti find someone who doesn't have an old shoe box/amazon shipping box/random cardboard box salvaged from being thrown away that has odds and ends of stuff stashed in them. My mom had her collection of makeup [gee, little alabaster or pottery jars and vials anybody?] in clear plastic boxes like small shoe boxes all stacked neatly on a set of shelves in her dressing room. In the kitchen, she kept packets of salad dressings and mixes in boxes to contain them, and a white plastic bin held the bags of assorted grains and legumes [split peas, white beans, lentils, barley, millet, oats for oatmeal] and in the garage boxes and bins held assorted tools rather than having them all out on pegboards where they could get dusty or lost.

Why am I reminded of how long spindle whorls were classed as 'ritual items' til someone saw a peasant kid walking along tending sheep and drop spinning?

Killing for "Christ" has become fashionable. (The U. S. is currently bombing at least seven countries.) And the "season" is fast approaching where all of Christianity will begin to SELL JESUS AGAIN, i. e. Christmas. In the days that lead up to Christmas, the "Christmas Spirit" begins to grow, and you can be sure that the biggest "take" of the year ($$$) will begin to grow as well.

Then there will be the sickening spectacle of the "Christian dinner" that you will be asked to supply for those who are "less fortunate than us". And when the food baskets are filled for that ONE meal per year everyone will be "satisfied" that they did "their part" in alleviating hunger in the world. Hah! What a joke.

But what about the day AFTER Christmas? Well, that's another matter. Everyone will be busy returning their Christmas presents because the recipients don't like the color or it just doesn't fit right. And "god" help those who "jump" the Returns Line. There will be blood!

This "Christan" ethic that is prided and held so dear to the heart is nothing more than a very thin veneer that is easily broken at the slightest provocation; like "jumping the line". And nobody sees
the disparity. But there is no wonder that it is not seen because greed and self-love have blinded everyone to that very ugly trait. But hey, it's time to SELL JESUS AGAIN. So, let's get on with it!!

I for one do not worship Satan or any god, but am a supporter of the Satanic Temple. I appreciate the activism for abortion rights and freedom of religion. While I am not an atheist and do in fact believe in spirituality, I am really sick of those who want to inflict their beliefs on others through proselytizing or by mandating their pet tyrannies. If evangelicals want to shove their idolatrous Christianity on the masses, so should there be a statue of Baphomet there as well. I don't want the government, because of religionists (including today's "science" religion, which is mostly marketing of the worst kind), telling me I can't choose abortion, that it is equal to murder (especially since the Bible absolutely does not reveal that view), because of pharmaceutical exploitation that wants to sell an ever-growing number of vaccines that often cause complications that require MORE medical care, or that male circumcision should be outlawed on the basis of "genital mutilation". I could probably think of more instances of violation of freedom, privacy, personal choice, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind. I love the tenet of the Satanic Temple, "One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone." And for that reason, it is the only cause I donate to.

I wonder what future archaeologists are going to be saying when they dig up what's buried under the soon be erupted (in geological time) Yellowstone Caldera? But since Yellowstone isn't going to erupt any time soon I wouldn't worry about very much. It was just a thought.

"They do not literally worship Satan;" Worship/idolatry comes in many forms, not just Satanic worship, i. e.; politics, superpatriotism, devotion to a particular church, The Pope, Islam, Jewdism, any one individual, money, power, the list is endless.

In fact, according to this guy we call Jesus, if you put ANYTHING between yourself and The Kingdom of God (which is entirely spiritual) you are guilty of idolatry.
    Cheers, Pilgrims!

Hi there Journee. Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it. The article is only a brief overview of the entire topic (additional analysis of Satanism would be helpful). You are right. There are theistic Satanists out there who believe in a supernatural being of the devil. If you research into the theistic Satanic phenomenon (as opposed to the Church of Satan or The Satanic Temple who are self-acknowledged non-theistic), practicing theistic Satanism generally comes down to an individual level, and isn’t ‘organized’, contrary to what the “Satanic Panic” of the 1980s and 1990s would have people believe. Some people may self-describe as Satanic, and be capable of horrible actions; that’s likely true of myriad religions or groups. No one here is arguing that it is good to cheer beheadings, death, and the other things you mentioned.

Since Frankincense was used as incense and as offerings for the dead, I'd like to know if anyone has ever smoked it? And if so, what are its effects?

All lies. Trying to convince people satanists dont worship satan is ridiculous. Only the stupid fall for this lie. Satan is the great deceiver. I knew a satanists and he believed in satan and God and thought satan gave enlightenment. Studied ancient texts from satanic lies and cheered at christian women being beheaded and bloodsoaked. The music he listened to was soaked in the blood of animal sacrifice. So quit frikking LYING.

Recently, a very interesting museum of "real" ancient Greek technology was opened in the center of Athens. See it at http://kotsanas.com/gb/. As about the mysterious ships of Phaeacians, I personaly believe that there was nothing more than the knowledge of compass (kept as a secret and lost thereafter) and some boasting from the part of Antinoos (king of Phaeacians) towards Odysseus. Actually this is the main subject of a book that I'm going to publish soon, but an extract can be found in my blog "geometax12.blogspot.com", in Greek.

It's (academically) (and collegially) discouraging that the author of the article you refer to did not take the time to review Ancient Origins essays on the very subject she has addressed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this article, thinking it well written and thoughtful. However, I do wish to point out one statement the author makes about bones encased in rock millions of years old. Since rock cannot be dated and radiocarbon dating is only useful for approximately 50,000 years, I found the statement to be unsupported. I’ll need to examine more pictures for evidence of the artistic flourishes mentioned. Great article
