The microbes are the biggest killers this planet has ever seen and scientists play around with them like blokes kicking around a football. If they create something which kills us off, well, maybe we asked for it. When we're gone nature should ensure the highest intelligence that rises next time are the pack hunters. This planet really was an Eden, a paradise before we appeared, and it can be again after we're gone. It would be better for the planet and every other species if microbes finished us off instead of nuclear war.

Unless I understand this wrong, bar Kamza was the son of King Abgar and Queen Helena.  The Gospels give his mother as Mary.  Further, I have never heard of Jesus referred to as a locust.

Imagine if the idiots running this world put down their militaristic insanity and worked in unison to explore what's being wantonly destroyed below our feet. Imagine what we'd find, what we'd learn... How many cures lie waiting to be discovered if we focused on discovery rather than usurpation for the sake of greed
    I remain disgusted....

To comment @ rons comment. Of course it works. If you take what we have now and know now and go back 500 years, you would called a witch, with magickal abilities. Creating flames from a small hand held device. Containing light in a tube and directing where it goes, creating smoke from a small battery operated device. Many many things would appear magickal. Just because you don't understand it , doesn't mean it's not there.

Hello Sandra I would like to know if the Ancient Egyptians were Black or White, like Pharaoh Thutmouse. Can you give insight into what transpired between 1800 - 1300 BC in Egypt ...were Jews there then, were they black , some people say Jews were originally black people like Ethiopians... that's why their hair type allows for dreadlocks like Samson in the Bible, Ras taferrians in Ethiopia ... please just insight. I appreciate. Thanks

Neves etc., make it clear that the paleoamericans were phenotypically Melanesian, African or Australian. The Wiki page is quite deceptive. It implies that Botocudos proves that Native Americans came from Siberia and therefore they were not phenotypically African or Melanesian.

The problem with this analogy is that the Botocudos are classified as Melanesian in origin. As a result, when Neves says the Botocudos are related to paleoamerican it was based on the fact that phenotypically they were African or Melanesian.South Brazilian Native Americans came from Melanesia. This is especially true for the Botocudos.

The Botocudos are descendants of Meleanesians and Melanesians are phenotypically Negroes. See: A.S. Malaspinas et al, wrote : “Understanding the peopling of the Americas remains an important and challenging question. Here, we present (14)C dates, and morphological, isotopic and genomic sequence data from two human skulls from the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, part of one of the indigenous groups known as 'Botocudos'. We find that their genomic ancestry is Polynesian, with no detectable Native American component. Radiocarbon analysis of the skulls shows that the individuals had died prior to the beginning of the 19th century. Our findings could either represent genomic evidence of Polynesians reaching South America during their Pacific expansion, or European-mediated transport”.

The Botocudo were a Native American tribe of Brazil. They were also called Aimoré (Aymore, Aimboré) .The name Botocudo comes from the Portuguese term: botoque, a plug. This was an allusion to the wooden disks or tembetás worn in their lips and ears of people who belonged to these tribes

Because craniometrically you can not tell the difference between Africans and Melanesians, we need to use archaeology to determine if it was possible for Melanesians to reach PaleoAmerica. The archaeology does not support a relationship between  Melenesians and Paleo-Americans. I and Dr. W.J. Page, have illustrated that the toponymic, archaeological, craniometric and pan-African genomic evidence indicate that the Melanesians probably came to Oceania from Africa and Southeast (SE) Asia 4kya. They only arrived in the Pacific as a result, of the Lapita cultural expansion from Southeast Asia into the Pacific. Consequently, even though the Botocudos may be related to Melanesians, the Melanesians were not in America in PaleoAmerican times. Don’t forget, that even Malaspinas et al, speculated that the Melanesians may have been transported to Brazil by the Portuguese.

Wiley you are wrong ancient Americans are not related to the Chukchi. Morten Rasmussen et al (2015), on “The ancestry and affiliations of Kennewick Man”, at http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/vnfv/ncurrent/full/nature14625.html   , said that “While our individual-based craniometric analyses confirm that Kennewick Man tends to be more similar to Polynesian and Ainu peoples than to Native Americans”. These researchers point to a non-Chukchi origin for this PaleoAmerican.

Its really amazing to think how as much as things have changed in the centuries since we are still in many ways honoring our heroes, idols, and cultural icons through bronze just like that Artemis statuette. Some of the steps in the process may have been refined and streamlined but ultimately it is much the same as it was. Hopefully we'll see our bronze statues and memorials stand the test of time like work of the ancient Greeks.

  • Reply to: The Strange Story of the Black Prince of Canterbury   7 years 7 months ago

I heard Edward was called the Black Prince because like some nobles he preferred to black his armour with a lead-based compound similar to that used on old ovens. Shiny steel needed regular polishing to remove rust which was a problem with non-stainless steel. That was a time-consuming and inconvenient chore in a battlefield situation, when some knights preferred to keep their upper armour on for days. Black armour helped hide rust spots and hand marks so a knight still looked smart with less armour care.
