I forget the name of the author, but there was a brilliant book written about Shaka many years ago.
I think that, like most histories written by the victors, his image was badly tarnished. It is more than likely that a lot of the insane & ferocious acts attributed to him were perpetrated by his commanders in his name. Dingaan, for e.g., would have had a good reason to put a lot of blame for his own cruel acts on Shaka, as he needed to justify his murder of Shaka.
But there can be no doubt that Shaka left huge footsteps over the entire Southern African region, and that his Empire's expansion had a chain reaction to events that still shape South Africa today.
If not for his warfare the Boer's would have encountered Bantu people in the Free State, instead of finding the area virtually devoid of inhabitants and thus claiming it as their own.

    Hi Karin. The article states:

“While scholars call them drums, their purpose is not definitively known. They were unlike any other artifacts found in Britain until the recent discovery of an undecorated chalk ‘drum’ in a pit in Lavant, Sussex, England.”

Thrilled to read this. Was not aware of this language before and hope it can be protected.
I live on the Isle of Man, which has a Gaelic language which evolved from both Celtic and Norse roots.
I'd be interested to see what common features there are between the two languages.
    Good luck.

  • Reply to: Teeth Discovered in China Show that Modern Humans Left Africa at Least 30,000 Years Earlier than Previously Thought   8 years 6 months ago
    Comment Author: Tom Carberry

Much if not all of the mainstream theory(ies) of human origin doesn’t match up with observations.  More and more the out of Africa theory of human orgins seems wrong.

I think we will never get it right, because massive worldwide catastrophes have destroyed most of the evidence of the past.

Rather than thinking of humans as “modern,” or “modern with archaic features,” or other variations, what about thinking of the fossil records as various mutations from a prior unknown ancestor.

The genetic evidence shows that humans almost died out completely not that long ago, leaving only about 2000 breeding humans.  It follows that the survivors of these 2000 survived mostly as mutants, as such a small genetic pool would result in a lot of mutations.

And over tens of thousands of years, we the descendants of these 2000 have sort of stabilized our mutations, but not completely.  Birth defects occur by the tens of millions every year, of all sorts.  People have massive variations, from tiny brains to giant ones, tiny bodies to giant ones, colors of all shades, head shapes of all types, body shapes of all types, etc.

I think these represent continuing mutations and genetic viability problems.

The article states the “drums” are solid – one would assume they could not be used for drumming, so maybe they performed some other purpose and calling them “drums”  is misleading

You need to know your bible!
It says clearly in Revelation 12:7 that the war were in heaven:

Revelation 12:7-9; King James Version (KJV)

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

  • Reply to: The Venus Figurines of the European Paleolithic Era   8 years 6 months ago
    Comment Author: Linda Abraham

I think it is very probable that these figurines were talismen, serving as good-luck or magical protection for women, especially during pregnancy and labor. Most of these represent the overweight female form with large full breasts, which was probably rare in actual stone age women, but symbolize the extra fat and milk needed to nurse. Since the human community depended for its continued existence on the ability of women to produce healthy babies and nurse them, this was all-important. Add to that the fact that pregnancy and labor were life-threatening conditions that many women did not survive, a goddess of protection was a necessity. The fact that many if not most of these objects fit well in the hand could mean that they were grasped by women during the pain of labor, and may have been considered necessary equipment, wherever humans migrated.

Ya gotta watch out for the Trolls Marcus!

They spend their days looking for people to belittle and be rude to.

I found it’s best to keep an open mind about things written in the Bible. Science and Archeology have shown us that many of the events happened however the cause is based on the beliefs and knowledge of people who existed thousands of years ago.

We’ve come a long way since then, and we still have  a long way to go.

There are things we will never really have a solid answer to...just theories and beliefs.

Keep an open mind about everything and believe what you feel comfortable with. There is no right or wrong here.

I've come to accept that there are a lot of things we’ll probably never fully know because we can’t go back to see the event or talk to the people there.

I highly recommend you try that...keeps the headaches you get when you’re brain becomes boggled trying to figure out who's right., LOL!

  • Reply to: History of the 12,000-Year-Old Swastika: Origin, Meaning and Symbolism   8 years 6 months ago
    Comment Author: SuchindranathAiyerS

The Swastika is the Yantra (symbol) of the original Aryan Constitution. It incorporates the Four Bindus representing the four offices of Aryavartha within the four arms. It pre dates the Rik Veda. (Only the Brahmin Canon of the Prathamo Upanishad precedes the Rik Veda) The Mantra (the condensed verbal vibrations) gives the four institutions, the objectives, the ordination and dedication in the Rik Veda: "Om Bhadram Karne bhi shrenayama Devaha, Om Bhadram Pashyemakshu bhir yajathraha, Sthiray rangay sthusthuvahum swasthino bhihi, vyyashema deva hitham yadayuhu. Swasthina Indro Vridhashrawaha. Swatshina Poosha Vishwavedaha. Swasthinastharkshyo arishtanaemihi. Swasthino Brishapathir Dathathu. Om Shanti, shanthi, shantihi". (Circa 20,000 B.C). The Tantra is implicit in the Mantra. Well being results and we shall see and hear only that which is auspicious and enjoy life with all our sixteen senses when the leader (Indra) is well famed), the Judge (Poosha) is all knowing, the Law Enforcer (Taarkshya) strikes down evil and the Mentor (Brihaspathi) educates well so blessing us with auspicousness. From this will come Peace, Peace, Peace. This prototypal or fractal Constitution is replicatable from the tiniest tribe to the overarching Grand Chief (or Arya Mihira) of all the tribes under Aryan Law or Varsha.P.S. The Vedas are not "epics" but an orally transmitted compendium of the Aryan experience while the Upanishads are the wisdom distilled therefrom. The Puranas are mythology and traditional History, often distorted to reconcile and enable the inclusion of various different tradtitions within the Aryan fold. The "auspiciousness" of the Swastika is the promise of the "rule of law" that is enabled by the four institutions mentioned in this Aryan Constitution having the qualities associated with them.

I've often thought that ancient people must've lived longer than we've always been told, considering their advanced astrological knowledge. If most everyone was dying at the ripe old age of 28 or so, with children to care for and feed, who would've had time or even sufficient interest to track the movement of celestial bodies, etc., not to mention the great neolithic structure building that was going on all over the world.
