"a bid to capture the last free corner of Europe"? I presume you mean Western and South-western Europe, still, even that suggests the Romans captured Ireland. Must have missed that lesson. Interesting article, no need to mislead for the sake of dramatic effect though.

Are you serious? Read the article. It is stated in there a half dozen times. It's less work than asking others. God I hope you are just a troll. Because your statement that "you are not an expert" transcends this article, and shows that you are "not an expert" at simply reading.

I read a section in my sociology book when i in college (early 1990s) on the Romani culture. It stated they where basically scammers, always trying to get one over on the local population. According to the book, all the Romani men in an area would go by the same name to confound anyone trying to track down the one that scammed him. When I read this chapter I didn't believe it. I figured it was just stories to reinforce raciest stereo-types. When I brought it up with my professor, she assured me the description in the book was accurate. As I had not known any Romani I was unable to judge the truth. Later my father owned and ran a motel and the Romani known as the "Travelers" stayed with him on several occasions. He said he did not have any problems from them what so ever, and they were good customers. I now realize there are many different Romani groups and we shouldn't stereotype them, but as with everyone else view each as individuals.

The reign of Akhenaten coincided with the astrological shift from the Age of Taurus (the Bull/Cow), to the Age of Ares (the Ram/Sheep). It was indeed a long time brewing, because the Egyptians and all the nations around them knew of the shift, and the Cult of the Bull wasn't ready to let go, as the Cult of the Ram gained strength. The nascent Cult of the Ram got chased out of Egypt, hence the Exodus story.

educate yourself. trees actually produce very little oxygen and the really old ones actually consume more than they produce. algea is the organism that is responsible for about 50-80percent of world oxygen production. forests are important for number of other reasons like circulation and purification of water and versatility of ecosystem but oxygen they produce is not that significant.

Phoenicians worshiped the same high Gods as Greeks. Their main cities had Greek names. Only when they became part of the Persian Empire they were attacked by the Greeks. Their form of writing was made of symbols representing a consonant with a vowel together. Splitting them into separate letters each one with a distinct sound ( alphabet) was a pure Greek invention and it took place in the island of Cyprus-inhabited by Phoenicians and Achean Greeks...

Western perspective, I believe author was talking from the Greeks point of view, which is nearly inseparable from much of Greek writings. That is the Greeks believed they had created the greatest civilization of all time. Alexander the Great's conquest of Egypt, Levant, Persia, and Afghanistan proves it in their mind. This highly developed society must of stood in high contrast to people with stone age technology that were likely organized in tribal fashion. India still has stone age tribes, notably the Sentinelese. I understand they are the exception, but it seems reasonable there were more 3,000 years ago. I don't think it was his intention to call the old and well developed civilizations in India "tribal". Indeed Nearchus seems impressed with India's Civilizations. Parts of Hinduism does seem strange to many Westerners; particularly the worship of animals (monkeys, cattle, etc.), and gods that have many arms, or looks like an elephant. But almost everyone in the West recognizes Hinduism as a major religion. I suspect anyone calling Hinduism a "cult" likely has an agenda, probably a religious one. I think most Westerns believe in freedom of religion, feel religion is a matter of personal choice between themselves and their maker, and because of the above two show respect all religions. Of course there are the exceptions and they are going to get the attention which far out weights their numbers. Which brings us back to why you feel the Hindu Religion has been unfairly treated. I would wholehearted agree with the caveat 'not by everyone'. Thanks

The Ancient Egyptians were not Caucasian. They were Black African which has been proven over and over again. All of their statues have Black features. They painted and depicted themselves as Black people. The Ancient Romans and Greeks called them Black people and their DNA on all of the Mummies discovered have closely related to sub saharan African people. The only place where Egyptians were white is in made up movies in Hollywood. To deny that is just another form of racism. Which is really sad.
