I found your article on the BBB interesting and informative. However, I failed to see how that supports the Biblical 7 days of creation of creation. Such as, according to Genesis, the earth was created first, even before light. Sun, moon and stars not until the fourth day. Your accompanying chart shows light, or energy first, then stars forming at 200 million years. This is quite a bit longer than 4 days. So while you show an overall support for the Biblical creation, it does not, in my view, support the Biblical narrative. You're reply would be appreciated.

Sounds similar to the Angels of Moms apparition, likely a part of some sort of propaganda. The most interesting part of this is that the Templars seem to have a good deal of knowledge regarding Ishtar. Possibly from their interactions with Muslims?

"The Caananites and the Phoenicians referred to Baal as a weather deity somet weird figuring of this thing has been found with some kind of spear oh and a marduk deity had the same kind of spear meanwhile, over, in Greece, zeus either, had a spear or a thunderbolt in his hands always shown with biceps"

Now please take no offense in my refutation, as I mean none, but it's very hard to argue that despite the similarities in Zeus, Baal, and Marduk and even the evidence that they inspired each other's designs, epitaphs, and stories the gods were pre existing in their respective cultures and separate.

Your mention of Marduk is actually very counter to your argument. Babylon at the time of writing the flood Tiamat-Marduk purposefully gave Marduk the names of other chief gods in order to phase gods like Enlil (stationed in Nippur) out of importance. They would later take this further and in certain writings suggest that Marduk was a supreme god and that the other gods were facets of him.

Baal furthermore was not a supreme god and was second to first Dagon, his father in certain writings, and El, the head of the Canaanite pantheon who calls Baal his favorite warrior. Furthermore Baal was dying and rising god something found not as a major part of other chief gods, (which he was not) except for perhaps Osiris.

Zeus is particularly sketching as the Greek writers much like many Near Eastern writers would say that two gods were the same despite mythological differences. The Greeks/Romans claimed that Odin=Mercury, Mars=Ares, Bastet/Hathor=Artemis, and finally that the Christian Yahweh=Zeus. These comparisons typically ignored that major traits of certain gods, Mercury was not head of the pantheon, Artemis was a virgin, Ares in his Greek incarnation was typically hated by the Greeks, and the Jews hated the concept of Zeus and lecherous rapist being their Yahweh.

This especially must take into account that there are several Zeus's and several Baals depending on where on these areas you lived. There are many conflicting stories of Zeus which later try to codify, was Zeus the father of Aphrodite or was she an earlier goddess, was Zeus's son Dionysus even his son (we have what seem to be old rustic depictions of Dionysus as equivalent to Pan), and a plethora of other such material. Zeus wasn't even originally the head of the pantheon in archeological records, Poseidon was. The Greeks had a concept of a rather feeble unimportant sky god, and considered earth and underworld gods more important (Poseidon as the earth shaker).

Back in the day you couldn't speak your mind it was blasphemy so the ancient Greeks would make plays and disguise truth in their plays even one ancient Greek almost got killed by a king for revealing the ellusion Mysteries but back in the day when you were a King the Mob controlled you and the mob saved his life as of today you can still hear these Mysteries revealed in music

Clearly she was absorbed into Israel's culture from the surrounding peoples. It was a corruption. This 'modern interpretation of your Bible' stuff is rather lowhanded and sounds conspiritorial. The earliest versions of the Bible are clear in thier condemnation of idol worship.

Agree. The entire story from Joshua to the exile is crystal clear about this subject. Idols like this were borrowed from the remaining Cananites and were strictly and repeatedly condemned by God. Repeatedly, we hear of this struggle. It would be utter nonsense to all of a sudden think that she was a legitimate diety. The prophets specifically condemn this worship throughout Israel's history. Her worship lead to the exile. And the prophets were not a series of rich scribes! Some were farmers, the lower classes.

I live in Upstate NY. My house was built in the 1870s. Running along the basement under what is now the kitchen into the mudroom is a hall made of stone. It has been quite a mystery to me. All of the foundation of the house is stacked stone and this hall fits with it in thickness. However, there is a step up to it from the main basement where there was a wooden door latched faced in. The floor is dry flagstone (the basement has flagstone but gets wet). Continuing, there was a door at the other end latch facing inward before steps going up. I don’t believe food was stored in the area. The hall is only 3 feet wide. I do believe it was a way to the water well and maybe to a woodshed before any extensions were made to the house, like the present kitchen.

Since the fogous were a major part of community life, could they have been passageways during terrible weather?

The Indian elephants are smaller than African elephants, so guessing that the African ones didn't cross the Sahara desert (as it's very dry) I expect they were of a similar size.
How they trapped and trained the elephants are recorded from nearchuses (Alexander's navy general) war diaries from another author.

I think, remembering from the Portuguese expedition to india that 2 war elephants could be carried in a boat, although this is over 1700 years later.

    Hello Ancient World,

Astronomy is all throughout The Bible from Genesis to Revelation. So on the 4th day God creates The Sun & Moon, God creates The Planets, The Constellations the Star's.

In fact in Psalms It is Written God knows every Star and He calls them by Name.

I read in Enoch and Jubilees wow both Books speak about Astronomy. Enoch 1 talks about The Circumference of Earth revolving around The Sun and The relation to The Moon and Earth.

Enoch makes it known that Earth is Female so is referred to as Sheoul okay the name is in Hebrew so I've probably spelled it wrong but, that is what I read Sheoul.

Enoch in addition too makes known that The Sun is Male, and the Moon is Female.

I think it is interesting regarding the Greek Astronomer that it wasn't until, the 16th Century when Nicolaus Copernicus gave the Greek Astronomer Credit on how accurate this Scientist was.

Greece had Ancient libraries every Civilization had one and every library had copies or versions of The Book of Enoch.

Enoch's writings about the Solar System would have been read and quite possible The Ancient World was conducting experiments to verify Enoch's statements about The Universe itself.

This was a great and exciting article to read, thank you for posting article Ancient World.

    Hi Thoth 101,

I've been reading Enoch's writing's online for free. It appears that there maybe 6 parts to Enoch's writings.

As of right now I'm reading Enoch 1, and Enoch 2 The Book of Secrets of Enoch.

The Ethiopian Enoch identified as Enoch 1. It was translated from Hebrew and is apart of The Ethiopian Bible, I checked for it online it's not up their what have learned is that this Bible in particular is The Oldest Bible in The World and that it has over 86, Bible Book's between it's scriptures.

Thank God for this but, I did find Enoch's goodbye to The World while God translated Him to Heaven so He would not taste death, his goodbye is in The Book of Secrets of Enoch free online. Check it out read the book!

These Specific Bible Book's Enoch and Ezras this would be Ezra that's not in The Current Bible, honestly I can't figure out why, in The World did Papal Rome and The Protestant Reformation Movement kick these Bible Book's out... When they have even more details in The Creation of The Universe by God.

Ethiopian Enoch Bible Book is referred to as Enoch 1, basically covers the crimes committed by The 200 Watcher Angels led by Azazel Ningirsu to all living thing's this would include people that has the Breath of Life, and God's judgement against these angels and their children, because of their abominable behavior.

Enoch 2 is called The Book of The Secret's of Enoch.

This part of Enoch 2 deals with the fact that Enoch is to be translated in to Heaven so that He would not taste Death this is crucial because right before God Takes Enoch God tells him to warn Earth of the impending Flood, the great deluge.

Remember that time in 2012, that a Voyager at least I think it's name was Voyager was reported as no longer being within our galaxy?

See that's not true in terms of how God measures space, technically Voyager is still in our galaxy.

So In a sense we're identified as the 1st Heaven, in Enoch 2.

What I have come to understand from both Enoch and Jubilees is that God hasn't stopped Creation, He is still creating object's and thing's.

Enoch 2, 2nd Heaven after ours, is well it's an prison for very bad angels now these angels are bound in chains; the entire heaven is described as dark & foreboding rather cold think colder than Antarctica or the Arctic

I think that those bound angels are the one's who fought in The War, that was in Heaven, told in Revelation chapter 12. I think God sent those other 200 angels who polluted creation on Earth, got sent elsewhere in The Heaven's.

Enoch 1 God tells the 200 angels again called the watchers that what they believed about the mysteries of the universe they've barely even scratch the surface.

The same is with me in relation to The Bible, it is through God's Prophet Enoch, that I am re-learning the thing's of which The Bible has spoken about.

Soon as I find me and English translation of Ezra (since apparently it is only found in The Latin Vulgate), that mentions The number of Heaven's and places that are throughout the Universe my Biblical lesson will be up to date.

Goodbye for now and thank you for reminding me, I forgot to say all of the multiple universes that's out there.

    Hey Zucchini,

Do you realize how many suns and moons in the Universe there are? Not to mention this may not even be the only universe and that there are multiple if not an infinite number of universes. Your Bible doesn't explain that.

So in one sentence you are saying God created one Sun and one moon and the planets. You do realize a star is a sun don't you? So if your God only made one Star the Sun then it wouldn't be hard to know it by name.

I have already heard the thesis that Zarathustra was at the origin of monotheism, but this theory seems far-fetched, doesn't it?

No more far fetched than the Hebrew claim that they were the first civilization. Also, I’m not sure it can be said that Zarathustra started monotheism because of his having been preceded by numerous other prophets, claimed by some to have been the same line. For this reason I  attribute monotheism to have been created by Mahabad.

Obviously the idea is controversial in that it is not widely accepted, but Judaism also could not have been without influences from other traditions from other areas. Some consider monotheism to have begun in Egypt under the heretic pharaoh Akhenaten, who was reputed by some as having changed that nation’s religion to worshipping one sky god.

I appreciate your being skeptical, but in the end it is an unknown, because no archaeological evidence has ever been found to support it. I am equally skeptical however of Judaism’s claim of being the source of monotheism.

What an outrageously biased and unfounded fantasy.

There is absolutely no evidence to support any of these speculative leaps of imagination.

Especially amusing is the addition of a deadlocked hair style. They may as likely have been as clean shaven as skinheads or worn their hair in an elaborate French braid for that matter.

In any case it is pure self indulgence. Not science by any stretch.
