The Truth Behind the Christ Myth: Ancient Origins of the Often Used Legend – Part I

(Read the article on one page)

At the close of the Neolithic Age, when civilizations arose in place of a purely agrarian culture, the ancient legend of the Goddess and Green Man expanded and took on religious overtones. It became a standard myth that was annually recited and dramatically staged in the temples and the mystery schools of the new fledgling cities, nations and empires. A feature of its evolving storyline was that the Green Man now took on the additional role of King of the World, which he governed under the authority of his Earth mother. And in some renditions of the legend the Son was said to have met his death in the fall at the hands of his unscrupulous brother or a dark, evil lord.

Ishtar and Tammuz

In the cities of Meopotamia the Neolithic legend transformed into the story of the Goddess as Inanna or Ishtar who annually gave birth to a Green Man Son and future king under the name of Dammuzi or Tammuz. It was said that Dammuzi/Tammuz grew up to mate with his own mother while also governing the Earth for her. In order that this ancient legend be reflected in their culture, the inhabitants of the Fertile Crescent enthroned rulers of their city-states who were acknowledged to be the embodiments of Dammuzi/Tammuz and the royal servants of Goddess Inanna/Ishtar.

“Unearthed in the main room of the palace of Arad. It depicts two almost identical images of a man with a branch- or sheaf shaped head, one lying down and the other standing. It may represent the fertility god Tammuz or a similar deity, who died in summer and was resurrected in spring, Museum of Israel.”

This was also true in Egypt, where the ruling pharaohs were regarded to be incarnations of Horus, the Son of Goddess Isis, and governed under her authority. But in the land of Khemit, although the spirit of the incumbent pharaoh was Horus, his physical body was formed by Seth, the god who governed the crystallization of energy into physical flesh. Together, Horus and Seth as the “Twins” created and comprised the physical body of the pharaoh, thus making the Egyptian monarchs modern representatives of the first and greatest king, Green Man Osiris.

Like the ancient Green Man, Osiris was similarly said to die and become resurrected annually in concert with the life and death of nature’s vegetation. Osiris’s annual resurrection ceremony took place during the annual flood of the Nile River, when the first tender sprouts of nature initially stuck their fragile heads above the surface of the Earth.

Semele and Dionysus

One version of Osiris’s popular Egyptian myth had him annually murdered by his jealous and evil brother Set each fall. This event was reflected in the legend of Osiris’s counterpart in Greece, Green Man Dionysus, who was annually slain by his relatives, the evil Titans, but later resurrected. Similar to Green Man Osiris, the mother of Dionysus was an Earth Goddess named Semele, meaning “Earth,” and his father was Zeus, the Father in Heaven.

In order to awaken Dionysus from his slumber at the time of the Winter Solstice, female representatives of the Goddess would loudly bang pots and pans as they danced their way in ritual procession to the snowy summit of Mount Parnassus.  And then after receiving his new set of clothes at the following spring equinox, the Divine Son would cavort in nature along with his own reflection and alter-ego, Pan, a name meaning “the All,” as in “All of Nature.”

Like Osiris, Dionysus became the King of the World, and like his Egyptian counterpart, Dionysus was reputed to have once completely covered the globe while teaching his diverse subjects the art of making and ritually consuming wine.

Wine made from grapes was recognized as the blood of nature, and since Dionysus was all of nature, it was his blood. Thus began the ritual of a holy communion through consuming the body and blood of the Divine Son.

There's probably a relation with the 'Twelfth Night' there (in German it's called: Zwölf Weihnachtstage and there they count from the 25th to the 6th of January).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelfth_Night_(holiday)

Good article! There is one aspect that I would like to elaborate a little bit further on:
"we" celebrate Christmas on december 25th, because the Romans ordained so.
But the winter solstice actually lasts from december 21st to january 6th!
That is because, from december 21st on, the sun sets later; but it is not until january 6th that he also rises earlier.
Our "pagan" ancestors already knew that long ago; and that is why there are still places where people uphold all kinds of "Epiphany" traditions.
But -just like Christmas and Easter- those traditions were so deeply rooted, that the catholic church "christened" them, when those traditions turned out to be impossible to eradicate.

It is not that we honor the created rather then the creator..we see the creator in the created. It is not that we worship the sun or the moon..but that those things represent or are the symbols of what we worship. But then we have different definition of worship. The sky, trees, mountains.. the grain that feeds us the animals..they are all a part of the Creator. Just like you have the DNA of your parents..so is the DNA of the great Creatrix in all that is creation.

You are seeing the ancients in the what you believe today.. You have what the ancient beliefs have become after the new religion won. ..partially. . If something bad happened it had to be a demon.. if man did something evil and got caught it was because of the devil. No..its you. No demons..no devil, ..there is the joker..But then the joker leads you to where you can learn. Hopefully.

As a modern day neo Pagan we do not believe in any devil. We are responsible for what we do..and have no one to blame but ourselves...
The truth gets confused the further away that it is..is your angels nothing more then the Messengers of the Gods...? Is who we call The Greenman who is now called Jesus?

MOSES WAS A WAR CRIMINAL
We often hear people say, “If only Jews would return to the Law of Moses!
“Instead, they follow their secular, atheistic, and Zionist ways!”
They express horror at the recent deliberate slaughter of Gazans, particularly the slaughter of women and children. (1)
But haven’t these folks ever read the Jewish Bible? Are they unaware of the influence of the Old Testament on Judaism?
Please open your Jewish Bible. Turn to the Old Testament. For the moment, focus your attention on the Book of Numbers.
You are about to learn that Moses, the great “law giver,” was a war criminal who ORDERED his followers to commit war crimes. The most heinous were crimes were committed against women and children.
NUMBERS 31:13-18:
(13) Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp.
(14) But Moses was furious with all the generals and captains who had returned from the battle.
(15) “Why have you let all the women live?” he demanded.
(16) “These are the very ones who followed Balaam’s advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the Lord at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the Lord’s people.
(17) So kill all the boys and all the women who have had intercourse with a man.
( 18 ) Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves.
The rest of Chapter 31 is concerned with distributing the Midianite plunder. Thirty-two thousand (32,000) virgin girls were counted in the booty (Verse 35). Thirty-two of these were given to “the Lord.” That is, 32 of these little girls were set aside for the Levities (heave offerings), to be used as concubines (Verses 40 and 41).
Yes, Numbers 31 says what it says. The Talmud sages used Numbers 31 to justify having sex with children. And since the Talmud sages, along with Christians, regard the Old Testament as “the word of God,” why beat up on the Talmud sages? Why not beat up on Jehovah and Moses, who set the standards?
For further discussion of Jewish teachings on sex with children, see the Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Yebamoth 60b, Soncino 1961 Edition, page 402. Discussion and links at http://www.come-and-hear.com/editor/america_2.html
It’s true. Moses was a war criminal. The Jewish Bible tells you so. Should we be surprised at how women and children were treated in Gaza?

TORAH JESUS ENDORSES TORAH
For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Matthew 5:18
JESUS ENDORSED MOSES THE RAPINE MURDERER:
"Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, in whom you have put your hope. 46 If you had believed Moses, you would believe Me, because he wrote about Me. 47But since you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?”…
John 5:45 47
MUHAMMAD
THE PROPHET LIKE UNTO MOSES

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A PROPHET LIKE UNTO MOSES:

MUHAMMAD WAS A WAR CRIMINAL

VIOLENCE IN THE QURAN:

Quran (2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things."

Quran (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."

Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding merchant caravans for loot.

Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

The legends are interesting, and give us some light on what our ancesters thought, as it was a major part of their life. But the Green man represented the seasons, and was a part of the cosmetology, what we today call paganism, Worship of the created over the creator, human sacrifices, and bowing down to totems and idols, and comparing the 'Gods' with astrological bodies and even animals.

Not something the Hebrews and later Christians were supposed to embrace, though the Roman Church and others did anyway. Jesus was not born on the 25, much less even in the month of Decemer. Jesus did not 'grow up' to be come one with the Father in Heaven, he was one with him as a child. Jesus's sacrifice was indeed to atone for the sins of mankind, but he and the Judio-Christian religion teach that those who accept him and his sacrifice are not reincarnated, but resurrected, and physically changed at that time.

I believe the Gods of old legends were real, but that they are what we would call 'Devils' and Demons (spirits) today. The fallen ones of old that led humans astray and today seek their downfall.

Ancient Technology

Imagine a glass you can bend and then watch it return to its original form. A glass that you drop but it doesn’t break. Stories say that an ancient Roman glassmaker had the technology to create a flexible glass, ‘vitrium flexile’, but a certain emperor decided the invention should not be.

Usermaatre Setepenre Ramesses II, the third pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty, was one of ancient Egypt’s longest-reigning monarchs. In an astonishing sixty-seven regnal years – the glory days of empire that witnessed unprecedented peace and prosperity – the monarch built grand edifices and etched his name on innumerable monuments of his forbears.

During the Early Woodland Period (1000—200 BC), the Adena people constructed extensive burial mounds and earthworks throughout the Ohio Valley in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Many of the skeletal remains found in these mounds by early antiquarians and 20th-Century archaeologists were of powerfully-built individuals reaching between 6.5 and eight feet in height (198 cm – 244 cm).
