The Hebrew word for day is yom and can have a number of meanings, including a 24 hour period (just like the PIE words for day). If you realize the word Yom to mean age in the context of the first 6 days in Genesis, they correspond to the first 6 eras of the universe and ancient Earth according to modern theories. they also correspond to the mythology of most of the ancient cultures through out the world.

You really ought to read the book by Rita that I mentioned in another post. If you are open minded, she puts things in perspective.

The Hebrew word for "day" always refers to a 24-hour period in Genesis. No need to conclude otherwise for the Creation account.

As for "science" determining that the Earth is billions of years old, that is only wishful thinking on the part of the Darwinist; all sorts of assumptions are made in order to support the time spans that give Darwin's creation myth a chance at seeming possible.

No scientist was present to observe the Earth's formation or to verify the accuracy of radiometric dating. The Darwinist hides behind a curtain of argumentum ad verecundiam.

There are any number of visibly obvious reasons for creation as an organised series of actions rather than the random happenstance claimed by current TV pundits, etcetera. Atheism does not mean theres no God. A-Theism is SEPARATION from or being without God. An Atheist is somebody who knows they are without God- that they exist APART from God, not that IT does not exist at all. Western man has decided to change what the word actually means. Read Silence and the Absence of God in "Citadelle" by Antoine de St. Exupery, and you will get a much better idea. It may also help you understand who the Little Prince is, by the way.

But examine the irony in Attenborough's online film clip about the evolution of the eye, or the old chestnut about the evolution of the Giraffe's neck.

These guys have conveniently forgotten that even were evolution possible, that it cannot possibly account for either idea, as nothing could live long enough to elongate its own neck to feed off trees in the absence of grasses because it would go extinct first, and nothing could keep still long enough and live long enough for an eye to miraculously appear on your skin through the action of the concentration of the sun's rays without shifting to avoid being burned!!

But logic demands more, so we have sex. Sex as we know it among mammals demands the interaction of two separately formed biological systems, neither of which could have possibly pre-existed the other.

Then of course evolution demands progress that in nature does not exist. All butterflies would have evolved to be the same colours, all plants in the same habitat would equally be the same, whereas even grasses in the same locations have very different solutions to existence.

So the idea of evolution logically is very obviously a non-starter. Those who believe in Evolution have a far greater theological faith than those who believe quite simply in God.

I am sorry but if byzantine and ancient authors call the thracians bulgarians, HOW on earth can they come from asia. This is pure BS created some 150years ago. Bulgaria was under turkish joch for half a milenium and was deprived from history, books and dignity in this period.

John Mallalas calls the mirmidons and achiles bulgarians (byzantine historian from the 5th century!). There is NO proof whatsoever that Bulgarians are of turko-mongolic decent. None.

My first thought was she was the representative of a goddess of the moon, as a lunar cycle is 28 days. The red spots on her face could represent a menstrual cycle perhaps, indicating she was a goddess of creation and who better to oversee the creation of a new building:)

Caleb, 97% of Christian seminaries have been teaching Old Earth for decades...If you factor in class size I doubt 1% of seminary grads taught Young Earth would be too low. So, why this stubborn, visceral belief in young earth?

Well, it may actually be vascular, not visceral....as in fully preserved vascular components of freshly discovered t-rex fossils...if you can even call them fossils. The scientific word for them is NON-PERMINERALIZED fossils.....ie., fossils that have'nt been fossilized! Google t-rex soft tissue and you'll discover that their '92 find was kept quiet until 2005, and, the Hell Creek formation smells of CADAVERS....I wonder why? Strange, too, why the famous Dino Jack Horner is in no hurry to C14 date these finds. They might turn out to be THOUSANDS of years old and not MILLIONS....like scads of non-permineralized fossils have already been scientifically proven to be.

So, you're absolutely correct in concluding religious fervor has gotten us to where we are today. Too bad the mullahs of misinformation, the ones hiding behind their sacred creeds, are those tenured scientists who fear honest debate, precise definitions, and following the data wherever it leads.

Hi Bruce: thanks for that information - my intuition tells me you are spot on, in the supposition. I learned more from your brief comment than i did in reading this entire article.

I was about to question, with a rant and rave, the need for A-O dot net to even post an article like this. so thank you for helping me avoid that drama :)

Your comment reminded me that only through discussion and 'knowledge sharing' can a truth emerge which can validate a 'theory' - more than ranting and raving does anyways.

so, thanks Bruce - good comment

The people who believe the Earth was created in 6 literal days ignore the etymology of the word day. Day comes from the PIE word *agh- meaning a span of time (think of phrases like 'back in my day'), and meant as much at the time of the Septuagint. Because of the nature of etymology, people did not realize this when they pinpointed the origin of the universe in the middle ages. Rita Louise in her book ET Chronicles correctly points out if you think of the 'in the beginning' part as 6 eras instead of 24 hour periods it matches closer to the modern origin theories starting with the Big Bang Theory through the time of the dinosaurs etc. all the way until when Adam and Eve show up.

Magic - Majik - is the ability to use one's own aura, energy force or anima - to connect with the natural elements of nature and then manipulate them to do your will without malice or harm.
Black Magic is EVIL and that is used to force - against the will of something else to capitulate or submit or suffer some type of harm of death.
Very few practitioners of black magic can actually call up the dark forces to do their bidding's without it also doing some type of harm to their own spirit. IF you know someone who practicing Black Magic -stay away from them. They're Bad News.
White and Green Magic are safe as long your intent is purely for the benefit of something or someone else. If it is self serving - you are tampering with nature to suit yourself. There are COSTS for doing this. Let's say you find out you have a health issue - then you must request your Magic Circle of friends to cast and bind a spell for you to become whole again - and this must be done with LOVE and Respect for the forces surrounding you and them or it won't work. Protection spells for you too must done by someone else - not you. IF you cast one for yourself - it will be weak and and not long lasting.
Love Magic - or spell casting that someone love you that normally wouldn't be interested in you - is also a form of Black or Dark Magic. True Love can only come if you're pure, whole, kind, one with nature and you let your natural radiant energies flow around you. That attracts the kind Love you desire.
Christian Prayer - and prayer circles - are a type of Magic that rely upon a HOLY intermediary to answer the call and then respond favorably - or not all.
Wicca or Pagan Magic works directly with nature and the elements - there is no HOLY entity intermediary. And that's why the Bible condemns it. GOD is the ANIMA of all Nature. GOD is everywhere - or omniscient. Pagan's live free and without the confines of Christian teachings or submission to it. They're children of nature. And of course this freedom is very self evident in their mannerisms and personality. They're unencumbered by dogma's and pretentiousness. Nature sees you for whom you really are. You cannot fool or hide from it. The All Force responds to the energy and the flow of your Aura. In other words it feels you and is either one with you or it is resistant to you. So my advice here is; Be at peace with yourself, nature, accept others as they are whenever possible. What you give you receive times three - do your will and harm none - So mote it be!
