I saw a television program last month about the Samurai in Japan.

This program discussed how the Samurai would take the heads of their defeated opponents and display them. It also referenced the role of female Samurai warriors.

This was on a channel broadcast in UK and, unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of the program.

To this day I love reading or watching the different movie's of the Man In The Iron Mask , and they all have one thing in common , that mask was scary of all hell to ware.. It would have been heavy on your head day in and day out until your death came . How claustrophobic would the Iron Mask be over your face 24/7 it's something I would never want it where. it does go to show that some Kings can be very very brutal and cruel to another person even if the mask was only velvet.

    Hello Ed,

Very exciting article to read thank you for sharing.

It's funny but it wasn't till eight years ago; that it even dawned on me who the Samaritans were. Upon reading The Gospel of John and the testimony of Jesus at the Well in Samaria talking to The Samaritan Woman I kept wondering what did she mean when she said Our Father Jacobs Well.

My bewilderment came from back in The Old Testament, and why The Book's of Ezra and Nehemiah, continually referred to The Samaritans as Foreigners The Newly returnees from The Babylonian Exile had again married Foreign women an had children by them (these Samaritan Women still practiced the worshipping of Idols, graven images the main reason why Judah went into The Baylonian Captivity in the First Place),

That is why, I was confused with "The Jacobs Well" statement by The Samaritan Woman and yes eight years ago I finally new that they were Ephraim and Manessah Joseph's two sons, I'm not certain but i thought eight years ago that the Samaritans were identified as such because their great-grandmother was Egyptian.

Oh before I forget Omri Dynasty in The Northern Kingdom of Israel as I understand 1 King's chapter 17, Omri is in fact the Father of King Ahab who in turned married Queen Jezebel.

Of course in and on-going endless cycle in Bible History and Ahab sinned More than all previous King's of Israel before Him.
I remember thinking how many sins can a single person commit worse than the last generation or King before they rose too power?

Well I'm seeing generations sinning worse than the last generation after them how mind blowing you know?

So I truly enjoyed your article until next Goodbye for now.

I Just remember The Bible; doesn't say what Tribe of Israel Ahab or his father Omri came from.

I Just remember The Bible; doesn't say what Tribe of Israel Ahab or his father Omri came from. The reason why I mention Tribe of Israel it's probably one way to identify those lost tribes of the Bible like for example the actor Joshua Gad since his last name is Gad perhaps his family is of the Tribe of Gad, I have a Bible Book that has both the names in The Bible and the meaning of those name's such as Gad means Son of Good Fortune.

Yes, you are right, there is still debate regarding when Sri Lanka was populated by humans (possibly first being archaic humans). There is a little more discussion of this here: https://www.ancient-origins.net/history-ancient-traditions/vedda-culture-0010799

Images of Ramses the I and II from dig sites that showes his race, Black. He wasn't light skin or near white. He as the people of that region was darker toned. Which is why you cannot find sunburn treatment records anywhere in North Africa dating back to that time.

I think I get it, these days, there are still things seen as male professions such as blue collar jobs and things like that. Whilst other male professions of the early 20th century, like managers and doctors are no longer seen this way and the genders compete for these equally , in the 15th century and even before, it was always seen as taboo for women to have men's jobs......

I have long believed that literacy in the ancient general population in all nations, not just Israel, was more common and widespread than most historians have implied. Obvious evidence of this is to be found in the ruins of Pompei, where graffiti is everywhere; also there are many political and commercial advertisements that survive. Graffiti is generally associated with the lower classes, and the implication of posting ads is also obvious: you want to convey a message to the greatest number of people possible to everyone that has at least a working knowledge of written language, in those times probably acquired by home schooling.

The widespread modern assumption is that the common classes were almost totally illiterate, and we are somehow superior because we have state education, but even today in many nations there are still those who just have only sufficient reading and writing skills to get by.

Based on the region and bearing in mind the fact that the ruling class would have remained out of the sun, would Ramses II have been this light skinned? Or would he have been many shades darker as is the modern population of Northern Africa? Educated guesses welcome, as this is not my field.

I have a Margaret Peveral  in my family tree ...

    Margaret Peverel
    1114–1154

    BIRTH 1114 • Nottingham,,Nottinghamshire,England
    DEATH 1154 • Merevale Abbey,Merevale,Warwickshire,England

    27th great-grandmother

I wonder if this article refers to this lady who was the wife of Robert 2nd Earl of Derby…  de Ferrers..

Since she died in Merevale Abbey in Warwickshire… I know this earlier than those Margarets Peveral mentioned in the article ...but something makes me think this might be hers…

    Cordially Leonard Keigher,

    Seaside OR, USA

PS just noticed that elliptical shape was used in silver seals from norman times … which might correspond to the Peveral seal your article shares..  I just recognized the name from my fairly large family tree… which shows many of kings and their kin from the time before Albert the Great through most of the plantagenet kings..

Wyatt has claimed to find other items of biblical/historical significance as well, but the physical proofs are sorely lacking. The Ark of the Covenant, for instance, which he claims to have found but was ordered not to reveal! As to the boat, math experts have said that even one that matches Biblical dimensions could not possibly hold 2 of every animal on Earth at that time, and reputable geologists say that formation on the mountain is a natural geological feature, not a boat. I have no doubt that the event that is documented as a world-wide flood/catastrophe did occur, and Noah/Upshanathim is recorded in Babylonian legend as the leader of survivors. (probably the origin of the Old Testament story). I just don’t believe any of the details can be taken too literally. There’s just too much distortion due to re-telling and multiple translations.

No more debate from my end though, everybody is entitled to their own beliefs.

The out of Africa theory is a hoax. That group is one of it's own but perhaps more ancient than the Western European group. The diverse Western Europeans originate in Mesopotamia and Egypt although the group that occupy that area now are completely different for the better part.

Is it possible that the name of Li-Jian or Li-Qian could have come, not from the word “Legion”, but from Crassus’s middle name – Licinius? (A name which he also shared with another famous Roman general to have made Eastern conquests – Lucius Licinius Lucullus. In fact “Licinius” was the major family name: Crassus and Lucullus were “cognomen” branches of the “nomen” Licinius.)

It was common practice of Romans to name new towns after *people*… and while Marcus Licinius Crassus may have lost his final battle, a legion which ended up in exile and founded a home-from-home far away may well have named it “Licinia” after him as an ironic tribute – the man who more than anyone else was responsible for them being there, both in his prosecution of an unnecessary war and for the disastrous tactics which led to their defeat.

.. and yet, the actual remains are a boat. Imagine a pyramid surviving the waves of a global flood, or even a rectangle. Don’t assume that ancient = primitive – the evidence is the pre-flood world had a tech level closer to ours.

Again, to assume that the current heights of mountains and depths of ocean floors were the same is a stretch. The accounts of EVERY major civilisation have a Flood legend, and the major details are the same. Most record 8 survivors, and some details that the Bible doesn’t make clear – like the fact that the pre-flooders were 12-15 feet tall (everything before the Flood was bigger due to the climatic and therefore nutritional differences).
