    I like Jared's comment.
We all know some law is nessary for civilization. As this article points out, whom does it serve? So the question immediately arises, what and how much law works for the greater good? Personally I find the authors of the US Constitution did a better job of deserning this than any before in history. May I suggest a short and simple book.
"The Five Thousand Year Leap" by M.Cleon Scousen 1981. Center for constitutional studies.
Writing it in blood, and defending it in blood, are two completely different things.

Sooo... what is the point? Faced with starvation humans eat each other. Dogs are always next to last to go, because there isn't food for them either. This kinda research seems to have an agenda. In fact it's not really research, but journalism borderline propaganda to an audience who has never been without walking distance to a supermarket.

  • Reply to: Ezekiel’s Daniel: Biblical Hero or Ancient Ugaritic Legend?   2 years 1 month ago
    Comment Author: damoncasale

Although the author of the article makes the very valid point of asking why a young man who hadn’t yet done very much should be placed in the company of such righteous luminaries as Noah and Job, the rest of the logic of associating Ezekiel’s Daniel with a 14th century Ugaritic character is highly questionable at best.

Firstly, let’s do some textual analysis.  Ezekiel has the following chiastic structure:

    A – Ezekiel 1-11 – God’s presence departs from His defiled Temple
    B – Ezekiel 12-23 – Oracles of destruction
    C – Ezekiel 24 – Jerusalem beseiged
    D – Ezekiel 25-32 – Oracles against foreign nations
    C’ – Ezekiel 33 – Jerusalem destroyed
    B’ – Ezekiel 34-39 – Oracles of restoration
    A’ – Ezekiel 40-48 – God’s presence returns to His restored Temple

Now, the passages in question are quoted from Ezekiel 14, which is in the oracles of destruction section, and from Ezekiel 28, which is in the central, oracles against foreign nations section.

What literary purpose does Ezekiel have in mentioning the righteousness of Noah, Daniel and Job in Ezekiel 14?

Looking at the chapter, Ezekiel is condeming the unrighteousness of the Jews.  Just as Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned to destruction because none of them were righteous, the Jews in Jerusalem were similarly worthy of destruction.  Even if righteous figures such as Noah, Daniel, and Job were present, they would only save themselves, not others.  Nevertheless, a righteous remnant in Jerusalem would be preserved (verses 22-23).

With Noah, it’s easy to see that his righteousness merited his preservation through the Flood.  Job is a bit more difficult, but that’s because Job’s literary style is unique in the bible.  It’s a purely fictional account, but set in a specific, historical time setting.  Job engages in a Socratic dialogue with his three friends, as a means of exploring in detail why bad things happen to good people.

When would such a question arise, within the history of Israel?  When either northern Israel or Judah was under an existential threat.  And indeed, the two fantastic beasts described in Job – the Leviathan and the Behemoth – represent Assyria and Babylon, respectively.  The two nations with put northern Israel and Judah, respectively, under existential threat.

    Who, then, is Job?

Job is a stand-in for King Hezekiah, whose righteousness exceeded all of the Davidic kings who came before him (2 Ki. 18:1-6).  Were it not for Hezekiah and his prayer for deliverance from Assyria (cf. Isa. 37), Jerusalem would have been destroyed.  In addition, Hezekiah was likewise “sick and close to death” (Isa. 38:1), just like Job.

Thus, the verses in Ezekiel could be interpreted, though Noah, Daniel, **and King Hezekiah** were present, they would only save themselves, because of the great wickedness of the land of Jerusalem at that point in time.

What about Daniel, then?  Wouldn’t there need to be a similar threat of destruction, in order to be comparable with Noah and Job/Hezekiah?

Well, there was.  Just look at Daniel 2:12-13.  When the astrologers and wise men couldn’t remind Nebuchadnezzar of what he had dreamed, as well as interpret the dream, he commanded them all to be killed – including Daniel.  It was only because of Daniel’s **God-given wisdom** that he prevented the total destruction of all of the astrologers.  The time sequence fits too, because this was early in Daniel’s captivity, when Ezekiel could’ve heard of what happened, and written about it.

How does that shed light on Ezekiel 28:3?

The arch-tyrant of Tyre is “wiser than Daniel” **because something he did, prevented the total destruction of his people**.

    What exactly was that?

Compare Tyre’s prophesied destruction in Ezekiel 26, with Ezekiel 29:18.  Instead of being wiped out and Tyre literally sinking into the sea, he managed to save his people at the cost of their freedom.  They became servants of Nebuchadnezzar instead.

    Make sense?

    Comment Author: Santiago Matamoros

Is George Washington a “myth derived from legend”? Similarities in the elements of different stories mean neither that one borrowed from the other nor that either is necessarily false. Have you ever heard of a victorious military general who defeated a tyrant, freed his people, and then refused the crown? Yet it’s happened at least twice in history.

The accounts regarding Jesus of Nazareth were composed (and preserved) by people who were slaughtered and otherwise persecuted mercilessly for affirming the truth of those eyewitness testimonies. People will die for lies they believe are true, but no one dies for what they *know* is a lie.

Which of the ancient pagan tales speaks of the Omnipotent, Infinite, Uncreated God becoming flesh, committing no sin, doing only good, dying for the sins of the world, and rising from the dead? Which of them has vast prophetic and eyewitness evidence in their support?

Every other deity is a god made in the image of Man (or a devil itself); Jesus came to save humanity from sin, death, and the devil and to restore God’s image to us. Not the same at all!

If there is any connection between those older stories and the New Testament accounts, then Mr. Pinkham has the causation reversed. According to Moses, all extant civilizations descend from one family of eight several thousand years ago. It makes sense that their shared history – including the oldest prophecies of the Messiah -- would be distorted over the centuries as their descendants spread across the globe.

Though the article only mentioned sheep, not goats, a cave is a convenient place to keep sheep from wandering at night. Goats on the other hand prefer to cave at night. Feral goats know where all the local caves are. Many caves are discovered by following goats in the evening. At the first light of day, the goats climb the rocks to sunbathe for breakfast. Funny huh?! It's true. Ancient folks knew all about goats and sheep, but most modern people have no clue. I was kinda surprised this article didn't mention Capadotia in Turkey.

I think they are sheep fencing. Goats can skamper anywhere, but sheep are clumsy in comparison. And will fall to their deaths in terrain as this. No doubt if neighbors were agressive, folks would use these places for defense. But I really do think these walls were sheep fencing predominantly. Sheep are independent also and wander from the herd, again unlike goats. Hense night penning is more important. This probably why pottery not weapons is found. Killing your neighbors just for their sheep probably is pretty low brow for even a barbarian.

Hunter gatherers had no concept of land ownership. Farming and ranching brought on the concept that we own the land that we settle on. We have been warring over pieces of land from then on. To me, that was the deeper effect of the revolution.

Follow the money. Just who is paying for this theory? Not that I don't believe you are what you eat, because I do. And I do think that traits do alter over time from environmental demands. However, someone with a lot of money and power is still driving an agenda. The missing link is not between ape and human, it's that ALL WARS ARE BANKERS WARS. Behind all crime, politics, migration, and wars is a bankster in the shadows.

Clearly this incident is real. As was the Aztec incident a few weeks later. As for being alien to this world, I'm not convinced. There is so much on earth that is yet unexplained. We have barely mapped the ocean floors, and really don't know what lies more than a mile deep in the mantle of our planet. These beings may well come from another planet, but so might we! So much we do not know.
One thing the Roswell and other incedents prove however is that there is a military industrial complex on earth that is above presidential knowledge grade. Personally I find this much more frightening than the existence of extraterrestrials. ALL WARS ARE BANKERS WARS

Also known as the devil's racetrack. All the natural world can only be explained by accute observation, experimental duplication, and measurements. All must be repeatable with similar results. This is why so much of our science today is political science, not real science. Furthermore, the scientist must be believable, and not have an ulterior motive. And experiment be repeatable by others. I think the Norris brothers have met these criteria.

Magic and religion both require belief. Not found in the animal kingdom, but is based in human consciousness. This is the final frontier. Apparently the ancients were as intrigued by this as we are today. From dream interpretation to controlling others. Have we really progressed? I'll leave that to you to decide for your self. I think not.

If I do understand that which is written then I would deny that this is the cause.  I would even go so far as to say that this is just another Wu Wu article………...  I joke Wu.
