Vistula River

A remarkable archaeological discovery has emerged from the waters of Warsaw's Vistula River, where a walker has recovered a well-preserved medieval sword that promises to shed new light on Poland's medieval heritage. The weapon, featuring distinctive characteristics of medieval craftsmanship, represents one of the most significant recent finds in the Polish capital and highlights the rich archaeological potential hidden beneath the country's waterways. The discovery occurred when Andrzej Korpikiewicz spotted the sword protruding from the water near Tarchomin, a district in northern Warsaw. He recovered the sword from the water, initially thinking it could be any old piece of metal, but as it looked like a sword, he took very sensible precautions to keep it preserved.
