Two exceptionally rare Anglo-Saxon "Lamb of God" coins, minted over 1,000 years ago in a desperate bid to seek divine protection against Viking attacks, have been discovered in Denmark. The silver coins, also known as Agnus Dei pennies, were found by metal detectorists near Løgumkloster in southern Jutland and Kåstrup in Thy, and have now been acquired by the National Museum of Denmark. At first glance, each coin might appear to be just a worn piece of silver. However, its imagery tells a profound story of conflict and faith.
