Raised and educated in the Midwest and moved to Hawaii to open a restaurant.  An interest in the Hawaiian people led to studying ancient Polynesian culture. In 2018, identified the landing location of Captain Cook, where the first European contact with Hawaiians occurred. 

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the restaurant and island have been closed, which provided an opportunity to further these studies. A better understanding of Polynesian ancient culture by way of contrasting and comparing Hawaiian and European history has the potential to improve our world knowledge of mankind.
