Recently I have read claims [from several other sources] that DNA evidence seems to indicate that light skin first appeared in Europeans as recently as 7,000 or 8,000 years ago. Has similar research been done to try to determine when light skin first appeared in far-eastern Asian populations represented by contemporary Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese?

I have been reading "The Velikovsky Heresies.” It talks about his book “Worlds in Collision.” In that book he claims that Venus is a comet that became a planet in a fixed orbit. Scinetists have scoffed at his ideas and said they are impossible. 

Recently, I found out that astronomers have discovered a planet that acts as a comet in the same manner as Venus. I think there may be some truth to Velikovsky's theories.

Anyone have any idea what the symbol signifies? Is it good? Bad? Any feedback would be great thanks a bunch!

I was researching my genealogy when I came across the article at the link below. It's about how Mathew Fontaine Maury stole credit for discovering what came to be known as the Telegraph Plateau, an smooth top underwater mountain range crossing the Atlantic Ocean connecting Newfoundland with Ireland. This was significant because it could be used to string the first intercontinental telegraph line. 

For all those wishing understanding and TRUTH - this is my PERSONAL decoding of the Nazca Lines coming to life in full color through the use of Google Earth showing them irrefutably to be the hidden Great Pyramid of Giza blueprints.

This disclosure shows things we as of yet do not know about the Great Pyramid. It is a time for truth, a time for a different world.

Does anyone even dispute that?  If true, I believe it is, this seems to be the 800lb ‘gorilla in the room’ on many issues discussed here at AO... Why hasn't life happened over and over on a planet so perfectly suited for live?  Why not every day and in the creek behind my house?.  And why is this not the most important (and least likely) component in the Drake equation of probabilities for ETL?

I just wanted to take the time to suggest the book Sacred Science of Ancient Japan: Lost Chronicles of the Gods by Avery Marrow. It is a very intrigueing look into Japanese parahistory and the mysterious tales of how some of this knowledge was brought to light. Avery Marrow does a good job of not shoving facts and beliefs down your throat. Instead, he shows you the information and lets you draw your own opinion from it. Its an excellent read for anyone into history's mysteries and/or Japanese culture.

I'm somewhat new here and I'm thinking many other history fanatics THINK LIKE ME....I know my semi-grown kids and siblings do not.

I spend a lot of time dreaming of visiting the past and planning where I'd go....Anyone else think like that? Where would you go? What mystery would you solve? What wrong might you undo... If you could go anywhere, anytime back to the creation of the universe...and come back with that knowledge, intact. Only 3 stops, taking one thing back or one thing forward.. carry-ons only

I was wondering if anybody else was interested in diets on this site. Whilst researching the plethora of diets available it seemed to make sense to go back to see what modern man was eating before all the revolutions in agriculture and industry. From what I have read cereals did not form any part of the stoneage diet because they hadn’t been developed yet. However in today’s world many people on a diet of rice, which is a gluten free cereal, live long and healthy lives.

On a hike recently, at a state park in southeast Michigan.

Prior to the hike, we decided to try out  gps waypoint markings of a high point hill peak. We found the hill peak with no problem near a hiking trail. The waypoint appeared to be 100 foot off the trail.

So, we decided to find the actual waypoint and bushwhacked it. Found a large pile of rocks in the middle of thick trees right off of the trail, thought must of been a landowner or the state clearing things out.
