Brief biography: John McHugh earned a Master’s degree from Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah, USA) with a dual emphasis on Near Eastern and Native American Archaeology (1999). He has extensive excavation and survey experience throughout Syria, Jordan, and the Inter-mountain USA. He possesses a specialty in Near Eastern and Native American archaeoastronomy and American Indian rock art. He has reading knowledge of Sumerian, Akkadian, Ugaritic, Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Qur’anic Arabic. John currently works as a history teacher and freelance contract archaeologist specializing in educational outreach through the Utah Division of Antiquities, Utah Rock Art Research Association, and Smith Archaeological Conservancy. His work has been read at the  Society of Biblical Literature, and appeared on  Good Morning America and National Public Radio (NPR). He was mentored by American archaeoastronomer Von Del Chamberlain and Russian archaeoastronomer Alexander Gurshtein.

Current research project: Examining indigenous rock art at Fremont Indian State Park (Utah, USA) for possible solar, lunar, or stellar astronomical alignments in collaboration with Dr. John Knight Lundwall.

Current Book:  The Celestial Code of Scriptures, will be shopped to publishing houses upon its completion in 2019.

The current, two-part piece for  AO, entitled:  Part I: How Orion’s Ability to Walk on Water Was Ascribed to Jesus; and  Part II: Celestial Puns Resolve the Irreconcilable Parts of Jesus’ Sea-Walk Miracle, are acutely abridged works based on the recently published “How Orion’s Ability to ‘Walk upon the Sea’ Was Attributed to Jesus: the Astronomical Basis for Christ’s Sea-Walk Miracle”, in  Archaeoastronomy and Ancient Technologies 2018, 6(1) pp. 80-110.
