Petroglyphs at Veracruz, Mexico

Interesting petroglyphs found in Mexico

Print

Petroglyphs found in Veracruz, at the foot of mountain Cerro del Sombrerete appear to depict a priest or another type of man dressed in some type of a ceremonial suit. A set of petroglyphs were discovered a few months ago and appear to be 500 years old.

The person depicted is wearing a helmet with his ears covered with what appears to be an earflap, his eyes closed and his mouth opened. He appears to wear some sort of cape which in the eyes of ancient-aliens theorists would appear like a double oxygen tank and for a good reason. His underskirt is decorated with triangles and symbols and around him there are elements related to astronomical elements. Also on his left hand he is wearing or holding something with strange symbols and above his head there are two concentric circles.

Because of the appearance and the symbols archaeologists suggest that he can be either a priest or a ‘wise man’. The people that used to live in the area in ancient times were called Huastec and they are supposed to be relatives of the Mayans.

The depiction of this petroglyph is something that has never been found in the area, which makes it very unique. What exactly this imagery depicts is still to be found.
