Brien Foerster was born in Rochester, Minnesota, U.S.A. but grew up on the west coast of Canada. At age 11, he became fascinated with the Native art of the Haida native people, and began carving totem poles, and other related art forms, learning from Native teachers. After completing an Honours Bachelor Of Science degree, Brien decided to take up carving and sculpture full time, at the age of 25. This included the creation of 13 full size totem poles, dugout canoes, masks, bowls, boxes and other Native style works. In 1995 he moved to Maui, Hawaii, and was hired as assistant project manager for the building of the 62 foot double hull sailing canoe (ancestor of the modern day catamaran ) Mo’okiha O Pi’ilani ( Sacred Lizard That Pierces The Heavens. ) This project lasted 2 years. There, having learned how to make Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddles from master carver Keola Sequiera, he started an online outrigger paddle business, which flourished internationally.

Peru became his next major area of interest. The study of the Inca culture led to his writing a book, A Brief History Of The Incas, which is available on his website, www.hiddenincatours.com.

He has become an authority on the megalithic works of South America and the perplexing ancient Elongated Headed people of the area, and divides his time between Paracas and Cusco, Peru.

On the face of Wayna Picchu that faces Machu Picchu Plaza, it looks like an overgrown trail traverses from left to right. It seems about the same altitude as the Plaza. Is it just a fracture or old Inca construction? It resembles the trail past the Inca drawbridge. Thank you.

We purchased a bentwood box (you signed and dated and called it Eagle bowl) in the late 1980's that you made. Beautifully done and we continue to enjoy it. Purchased it from Art of the Raven on Douglas St. in Victoria, I believe, now no longer there. Interesting to finally find what it's creator has done and is doing with his very varied and interesting life. This lends added depth to our piece of art. Thank you.

Dear Brien,
Im have a fasination bordering on obsession regarding ancient history but mostly anything connected with a cataclysm evident but seemingly ignored roughly 12000 years ago leading to the tilt of the earth and the loss of history explaining how many of these statues/monuments/structures were built which 'modern' technology could not achieve and we can not actually explain.

My question to you is how do i live this passion as you are? Where do i start and how can i viably make this a paying job? Any advice from you would be great. Thanks for what you have done so far i find the majority of your videos and writing incredible and makes me thirsty for more knowledge. Keep up the good work.

Brien,

I like the content of your YouTube flicks. I know you grew up on the west coast, BC.

Did you attend school in Haney Mt Crescent elementary?

If so I have a class photo I could send you

Cheers,

Brad
