Forget Global warming, a New Ice Age may be coming

The beginning of 2013 was ultra-cold for most of the countries in the northern Hemisphere. Meteorologists in Britain suggest that it was the coldest winter in more than 200 years. Is that a coincidence?

Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov, a scientist of the Astronomical Observatory at St Petersburg suggests that Earth is on the way to a dramatic temperature drop. The last time that this happened was between 1650 and 1850 which was called a Little Ice Age. The Little Ice age was a period of cooling that happened after the Medieval Warm Period (and they didn’t have CO emissions back then …)

Today the largest decrease in temperature was observed in Europe, North America and Greenland. All channels in the Netherlands were frozen and glaciers advanced deep into Greenland forcing people to abandon their settlements which had been inhabited for many centuries.
