Tel Shiloh - Ark of Covenant

Ancient Church was found where Ark of the Covenant once was

Print

The Ark of the Covenant was the most important symbol of Judaism. Some even suggest that it was more than a physical manifestation of God on Earth, it may also have been a powerful weapon or a communications device.

The construction of the Ark was given by God himself to Moses, with very specific details of its size and materials to be used (more on this soon in an Article about the Mysteries of the Ark of the Covenant).

A church that was accidentally discovered at the archaeological site of Tel Shiloh in Samaria, is one of the earliest churches dating back to the fourth century AD. Shiloh was an ancient biblical city and an old capital of Israel. According to the biblical documents, after the Jews crossed the land of Canaan, and the conquest of Jericho, they settled at Shiloh where they remained until the battles with the Philistines were over.

Archaeologists suggest based on the findings of this ancient church that this site once housed the Ark of the Covenant, during the time that the Jews were there.

If the Ark was indeed found there maybe further investigation of the ancient church will give us more clues about that ancient and undiscovered artefact.
