Some things to point out. As the images we have are from the Middle Ages and Renaissance were Catholic approved, and the painters did use models, then what we are looking at in that art is nothing more than Italian men.

But at the same time, they did know Jews who lived in the Roman Empire, but the Eastern Orthodox and Byzantine artists also used models.

They cannot prove that the skulls actually belonged to men from Galilee, only that the skulls were found there, so they could have been Syrian or Phoenician or even Roman or Greeks.

I think Eddie Izzard was merely being facetious in his criticism, because we already knew that Jesus was from Israel and that Jews do have ethnic specific features. So why take what Eddie Izzard says when his own comedy routine included him being " a lesbian in a man's body"?

Now, whereas the assumption could be made that he had short hair and a short beard, the fact is Jesus was an Orthodox Jew and would have kept the religious tradition of not shaving the sides of His beard nor cutting the side locks.

We know that Jesus was indeed a kosher-keeping Orthodox Jew who did teach in the synagogue, because He was recorded as attending minyans "as was His custom".

We also know that He wore the prayer shawl (tallit) with the tzitzis (fringes) and that would be in keeping with His Orthodox regalia. He would have also kept His head covered and worn the phylacteries because that was required within the regalia.

What the reconstructionists have done is merely make an image of a fisherman ready to jump on the boat. Jesus was referred to as "rabboni" which people have assumed meant merely a teacher, but "As was His custom" to be called a rabbi meant that He was educated in the Yeshiva, and there were two competing Yeshivas at the time, Shimmai and Hillel, and it was from Hillel that Paul was from. His teacher was Gamaliel, the son of Rebbi Hillel.

Jesus was literate, meaning He was educated in the Orthodox system because He did read Isaiah in the synagogue. We also know that at 12 He was in the temple talking to rabbis. For that to have happened, He most certainly had to have been bar-mitzvahed in the temple, because that was the only way He could have been speaking to the priests in the temple. After bar-mitzvah then it would be required of Him as an Orthodox Jewish man to be in a minyan.

The Pharisees were simply a sect, but it was the authority sect comprised of priests, so Jesus would not simply have been a random person walking around who just inadvertently ran into priests who would have invited Him to their homes.

We know that He was indeed Orthodox and His mother also was Orthodox, because we know she fulfilled the seven days after giving birth according to the law of Moses and that He was circumcised on the eighth day, still according to Moses. And it was in the temple where He was circumcised.

For those who dispute the fact that Mary was indeed Jewish, because they want to say she was gentile, you have to read the Bible accounts in the Gospels that clearly indicate He was kosher-keeping.

While the picture of the reconstruction might look like a man from Galilee, they have not proven the skulls were from actual Galileans only that they were found there. And it does not matter whether or not He was keeping with cultural traditions, as a religious kosher Orthodox Jew, He would have had the side locks and would not have cut His beard. He kept His head covered, wore the prayer shawl and the phylacteries.

While it is a nice reconstruction of three guys, it also does not represent Jesus, but it might represent Peter, James, John or Andrew.

BTW, if Jesus were not Orthodox Jew then He could not have been brought before the ruling council of the Sanhedrin, which was for Jews only and not gentiles because the Sanhedrin could not have charged any gentile under Jewish religious law. And the Sanhedrin kept records of their trials and do mention Jesus as well as James and four other disciples.

The charge was made about His legitimacy, and that's why they record His name as Pantera, yet He would not have been permitted to be circumcised in the temple, bar-mitzvahed in the temple and called a rabbi if He were merely the son of a Roman soldier not married to His mother in those days, so the charge came later.

It's a nice picture of Peter though.

When that much kinetic energy is involved, the physics get rather hairy,it takes a while for all that released heat to get redistributed and due to the elasticity of the ice sheet things are not always as straight forward as they would seem. There are blowouts and layers of shattered rock around here in different locales and some places seem to have just had a gradual upthrust(the layers of rock had time to creep, rather then shatter)I would imagine the initial blast killed a lot of the higher lifeforms in the area. The ejecta, coming back in would cause a lot of damage too,the following climate shift after the event probably caused the final extinction, then it was up to the final wave of Asian people to colonize the North American continent(the way I see it anyway)-Kevin

Why is this a surprise? What about all the digs of the mound builder society where Egyptian, Hindu and other out of place artifacts were discovered along with eight, nine and ten feet tall skeletons? All overseen by the Smithsonian, who now claims none of it ever happened even though we have years worth of news articles describing these different digs, nothing should be a surprise in a world where TPTB have decided to rewrite history to their benefit by faking both artifacts and historians.

If that "religion" goes by the name of CIA then I'm with you on that.

The article mentions that Clovis man was also made extinct at this time-approx. 12,900 years ago. Awhile back I read (maybe on this site?) That Clovis was the same as the Solutreans of modern day France-Spain. Their spear-arrow points are the same, and they had a connection to Chesapeake Bay. It is exciting to think that other people came here besides the paleo-siberians.
The article also makes a passing note that many creatures would have been flash frozen. This is certainly the case in Siberia and Alaska, though in Alaska their seems to be evidence of a wall of mud that overtook much of the megafauna.
Is there any evidence of a huge impact of an asteroid or ? crashing to the ice sheet, or did the ice just absorb it?
I'm just a curious reader, fascinated by what I read here, and loaded with questions, so forgive a lack of specific knowledge about this era.

Considering Jesus seemed to have many women followers, especially wealthy woman, I could think that he was rather good looking, human nature being what it is. So not like the Neaves model and more like "Kenny G."

Original folk tales were dark and spooky tales but they conveyed moral attitudes and warnings such as trust and caution and danger. In those days most people couldn't read or write and many people still believed in God and black magic, and so storytelling on winters nights or before bed was the way the world was explained to young children. These stories only became fairy tales about beautiful maidens and handsome princes when the Victorians rewrote them for the burgeoning children's book market.

Hansel and Gretel is said to have originated from the Great Famine of 1315. After years of drought and then a year of floods there was no food available in Europe, and parents unable to feed their children turned them out to fend for themselves. After this mass abandonment many kids were never seen again, many assumed murdered and eaten. It warns of uncertainty, self-reliance, hunger, stranger danger, deceit, having a plan etc., and in its original form it must have had an impact on most kids.

I wonder who is doing the creating stating that this Shabaka Stone creation story is similar to the creation story in the Book of Genesis, as if, the Book of Genesis depicts anything that predates the dynastic period the Shabaka Stone depicts. The bias isn't even subtle.

There were many, many cultures and peoples that came here to the Americas before Columbus, which traded, bought, mined and some even settled and/or intermarried among the indigenous peoples of the Americas. It was when Spanish explorers along with the French, aka Europeans, came to plunder, pillage and destroy the indigenous populations to take the land and 'riches' for themselves was it so strongly recorded by the respective countries doing the plundering, as if they were heroes. In other words, what you are taught about history most of your life, is a lie. Columbus never 'found or even landed on the Americas soil.' To place a 'claim' on land when others are living on it and have been for centuries before you even knew it was there, is idiotic. Historians are still mired in mud when new revelations confront them. They disregard them because it does not fit their narrative and they really aren't interested in the truth of it all. Many organized settlements dating 14,000+ yrs old have been uncovered and they go down the memory hole and are ignored. Don't know if that sword was really found where they said or not. I'd like to think that both brothers and the brotherhood hunting this island's 'treasures' have more integrity than to allow something like a planted fake to happen. They are the ones serious about finding some real evidence among all the myths, legends and crackpot stories people bring to them. They are the ones dropping millions to bring this to fruition; don't think they will let some ignorant move like a planted fake sword to be portrayed as real.

Mr. Llewellyn, that Jesus existed is historical fact. You said He was "fabricated to sell an ideal"? There are secular writings, such as those of the Jewish historian Josephus, that mention Jesus, with enough descriptive information to both identify who is being discussed and support His existence. The "ills" of the world are mostly created by people, not religion. Religion is used as a scapegoat because of some awful abuses of religion in the past by certain religious organizations who were not following the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, but following a self-serving agenda to line their own pockets. Today, there is a certain religion that is doing it's best to take over the world, by both overt and covert means, and it's brutality can only be described as pure evil. Christianity does not teach that believers should convert others by the sword, and never did. The truth was distorted and twisted to fit an agenda. This other religion's version of their "bible", does teach and demand conversion or death to we "infidels". Jesus is still alive and sitting at God's right hand, and He will return, probably quite soon, based on all the signs occurring in the world. If you want to "prove" Jesus did not exist, first read "Evidence That Demands a Verdict", by Josh McDowell. He tried the same thing and became a believer. Many other intelligent, well educated persons have attempted the same thing, only to become believers. I hope you will do this and learn the truth. John 14:6.

North America was regularly visited in 3000 BCE by Akkadian and allied miners who worked the copper mines at Lake Superior. So a Roman ship is a late comer indeed.

Victor: "That's what separates the believers (religious) from the know-ers (spiritual)."

akinchana: To know not only implies the comprehension or awareness of something, but also involves the belief or conviction of the truth or falsity of that thing, so the 'know-ers' are also believers. Can you prove the monist (non-dualist) philosophy of which you speak? If not, then, by your definition, you are a religionist---a believer.

No, this is not a coincidence at all since “ferocious animals” were imbedded in their Myths of Creation and NOT took part in any oferings at all.

It appears to me that the story was related to some serial abductor who may have used handy sound instruments (like a small organ, ratcheting or string etc) to lure children to lonely corners or any house and later abduct them (recall the word 'kid'-napping/nabbing). Children finds always such things attractive that have some strange sound or lights coming out of em. The indecent might have terrified the unsuspecting citizens so much that that they made a story out of it to WARN the future generations of such dangers. It could have been the 'crime of the century' back then. The piper was made 'pied' and his music 'hypnotic' to attract children's attention. Most advices for children go into deaf ears.

And that piper/charmer-cum-abductor was probably never caught he only vanished after nabbing a few kids in ONE day.
